View Full Version : Black Hawk Down

For us in the USA, Black Hawk Down the movie is out and me and snipermonkey saw it over the weekend and its awesome. I recommend it to anyone who likes heavy combat and street gunfights.

Anyone else see it?

19-01-2002, 10:51 PM
If you haven't seen it, go see it, definitly. Its the most accurate and realistic war movie yet. After the first halfhour is non-stop action that'll keep you on the edge of your seat.

19-01-2002, 11:04 PM
Thats what's so great about the movie, its not talking or something gay like that, its heart-pounding combat.

19-01-2002, 11:10 PM
ummmm jus wondering, does it even have an ACTUAL storyline or plat, saw a preview on tv and they said the producers didn`t even quite understand wat its all about.

19-01-2002, 11:12 PM
Its based on the 1993 events involving US Special Forces soldiers in Somalia.....

It says the basic things in the movie but it is better to read the book or veiw a documentary like I did before viewing it.

19-01-2002, 11:16 PM
Is it scary ? Tell me, so I can hide under a pillow :D

19-01-2002, 11:20 PM
About as scary as combat can get....

But there is no lack of GIBS

19-01-2002, 11:22 PM
woooo... Jucky ! :) *trows pillow away*

19-01-2002, 11:24 PM
Oh yes, you minors should be wary  You get to see a guy get blown in half, a guy's thumb being deattached, a person's hand being blown off, and a bloodly scene with people trying to reattached an organ in a guy's leg :D

19-01-2002, 11:33 PM
:D, I liked the guy that was looking for his arm in Saving Private Ryan.. The guy just walks around on the beach looking for his arm while others are hiding and running between cover not to get hit :). Looks quite stupid..

20-01-2002, 12:35 AM
UH-60 BlackHawk down is a true story right?

hehe... there's a parody of that in Conker's Bad Fur Day on the N64, 'cept he doesn't get shot. :)

20-01-2002, 08:38 AM
yea ok its BASED on the 1993 stuff but wat actually conveys the plot along.

20-01-2002, 10:11 AM
Guns, bullets, and gibs convey the story.

20-01-2002, 11:08 AM
Saw it yesterday with a friend, reminds me of Three Kings, but darker and grittier. In some ways.
Very good. Combat to attract those who like the violence and explosions part of a film, and a little drama and psychological expressionism for the more thoughtful.

20-01-2002, 12:16 PM
AHHHHHHHH yes psychological expressionism my faveorite type of film.;)

20-01-2002, 02:10 PM
No comment.

What made it all the more effective is that on they news it was just "combat continues in Somalia as US forces advance..." for us, it's always somewhere else.

20-01-2002, 03:44 PM
I just saw it today. Good movie, I like the realism and combat. You get more connected to the people so when they die it's more of an impact than 1,000s dying in Saving Private Ryan.

Me and Killerdude18 are going to see it tomorrow...

21-01-2002, 11:49 AM
And how does good ol' Eric Banner (Banna?) fare throughout the film? (we dont have it yet, maybe next week or so)

21-01-2002, 04:13 PM
I just saw it today and i also thought it was a good movie. The only thing i disliked is the lack of a main character. It makes the movie harder to follow than other war movies.

Im seeing it this weekend

23-01-2002, 05:39 PM
My favorite part is where the guy in the truck convoy gets blown in half. Pete(Dead) and I both looked at each other and smiled, because of our gib obsession. I later coined the term of "torso boy" .

23-01-2002, 06:44 PM
Well the main charater was mostly undefined, but I think it was meant to be Sgt. Evers.

23-01-2002, 10:33 PM
And who was he (the actor)?

24-01-2002, 09:42 AM

Yes it looks stupid, but the film was set in a diffrent film, when 1/4 of ALL gi's werent fit(mentaly) for Duty.
But US gov. needed men*Read:Cannon Fodder.*
In SPR, it was a nice touch:eek: , to see *sorta* how shatered some of our men Got in the war.

If you lost your arm, Adreniline Pumping, i'd think you would Look for it too.

*PING!....... Ha ha you Lucky bastard!........ POP! *BAD feeling.....*

Dont know if I'll see BLD, dont have time.

24-01-2002, 01:45 PM
Well kittten, if you come over to me I`ll pay your ticket :)

24-01-2002, 03:27 PM
I don't know who played Sgt. Evers, but it was one of the main guys in Pearl Harbor. The one with the darker hair (I think his name was Danny in Pearl Harbor).

Pearl Harbor was good :)

24-01-2002, 04:02 PM
Or the germans in SPR. They hadent it so easy either.

24-01-2002, 04:08 PM
Indeed we forget too much about the pain and suffering of the bad guys. You'd be suprised what you see when you look at an issue from a different perspective. Still, Hitler had no business mixing things up with the Jews.

24-01-2002, 09:56 PM
I like the part when the skinnys interogate the strobe light and the lil gunships tear them into mini gibs

25-01-2002, 08:30 AM
lol @ mini gibs

25-01-2002, 08:05 PM
I thought the part where the guys were firing on a building controlled by U.S. forces with a big gun, and them some guys came behind them, killed the gunners, and blew up another truck with it.

25-01-2002, 08:41 PM
Violent Psycho`s you all are ! :D

26-01-2002, 09:49 PM
yea, but anothe gooc part is where the convoy turns down a street and a lone somali runs across and u hear *boom* and with a single shot he instantly falls down, its funny as hell

Honking Donkey
26-01-2002, 10:34 PM
check the history channel 8:00 if u in california, shows the true story of bhd....poor guy that got the headshot,

26-01-2002, 11:45 PM
It was funny how those 2 machine gunners were stranded alone in the middle of a street just waiting for enemies....lol

27-01-2002, 12:03 AM
Whats even funnier is when the guys were trying to 'manually' reattach the organ in the guy's leg, but the organ kept slipping out of the guys hands! LOL!!
(ok, I have a twisted sense of humour)

I think the best part is when that guy throws that beacon thingy on top of the building for an airstrike. He starts running away from it in slow motion. I cracked up laughing because it reminded me of Baywatch.

27-01-2002, 04:33 PM
I saw Black Hawk Down and that movie was awsome! The gun fights were cool and i liked the part where the helis came in and gunned all the skinnies down :D! i felt sorry for the guy that got shot in the... uh was it like near his balls of near his pelvis or something? that must have really sucked especially seeing how much blood was coming out.

27-01-2002, 07:44 PM
Do you guys think it was better than Saving Private Ryan? Gorier than Saving Private Ryan?

27-01-2002, 10:05 PM
hey macross, i don't think eric banna is as big a part as people here say he is, i think he's just a veteran who's in the mess, but i haven't seen it so i don't know,

and they're they're saying it might be rated 'R' down here in Aus, which means i won't be able to see it!!!! If they do i'm going to protest!

29-01-2002, 06:55 PM
I dont even know jack all about that movie except there are a few rangers and 2 DF guys or so. I just wanted to know what part Eric played because this is his first (?) international movie. Oh and if its R im gonna be pretty pissed off myself.

30-01-2002, 08:53 AM
Yea, but like..you live way over in neverneverland..*sobs* it would cost more for the ticket to fly over there, then to get a ticket for the movie lol...but if im ever over that way (which im sure ill be making visits over there to visit friends) then ill take ya up on that offer ^.^
much love and empathy,
