View Full Version : Engine prone to crashing when going beyond 2048 entities.

Already aware that the engine becomes unstable when you go past this number, but I was curious to see how much it can actually withstand. Turns out that as soon as you go beyond 2048, then it's very, very, very prone to crashing to desktop without any error message, the rare times console does actually say something just before the crash is:

Tryed to link edict 2047 without model

Which I have no idea what it means. I was excepting SC 5.0 to be able to withstand... say... 3072 entities without crashing. Guess not, heh.

This is a known issue that will hopefully be fixed at some point... My best advice is to reduce entity usage by using Angelscript.

There's something wrong with the memory manager causing this. Apparently it's unable to allocate memory even though a lot of the heap is unused. Could be fragmentation.
