Hey guys, i'm having a problem that doesn't let me play Sven. Everytime i explode or someone does my game crashes. This happens to me in two differents PCs, one with Windows XP (shows error, i'm leaving a screen below) and one with Windows 7 Professional, i tried formatting my PC and also tried reinstalling the game, all this with the Steam version. With the PC of Windows 7 it doesn't show anything, just crashes.

Thanks for your time reading this and sorry for the broken english.

Is the Sven Co-op 5.02 or the 5.03 public release candidate?

Could you run the game with procdump and provide us with the heap dump it creates? Information can be found here: http://forums.svencoop.com/showthread.php/43459-How-to-generate-heap-dumps
This will help us find the cause of the crash and fix it.

This appears to be caused by the Steam Overlay. It crashes in the CEF library, as reported by various people. One such example: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3081864

Could you try running the game with the Steam Overlay disabled, and then doing what you did to cause the crash?

Tried but the crash remains, do you need a new dump with the overlay disabled?

If you don't mind. Could you also post your video settings, and pc specs?

Kirinator

Sure, there you go: https://mega.nz/#!hVQ2wQbZ!3gPpqNBleBDX4qx8uxwX0X8g-2PootnqYLfmssHDqqc

First three are the PC Specs (get it from executing dxdiag), and the last one is from Sven, in what resolution i used to play the game, etc:

17005
17006
17007
17008

However, for the tests i'm using 720x480 and windows mode, because if not, i can't use the procdump-thing.

Have you tried verifying the game's content?

Does this still happen when using the latest update? We just released it.

Did you run Steam as Admin right? "Run as Admin" I am not sure because post#1 sees error message. Did you defrag fresh hard disk like AVG TuneUp? I hope my post helps you.

Have you tried reinstalling?

I have the same problem.

I've reinstalled Windows 10, along with Steam and Svencoop - same problem on both release and release_candidate_public. dump with overlay disabled is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwsJfmT_joLRSlBKR1RPaTZDQ2c/view?usp=sharing

Specs are i7-860, 12GB RAM, GTX970 1920x1080 OpenGL

As before, this crash dump points at Miles sound system. The exception code is one used to name a thread (0x406D1388). You may have to PM a programmer to let them know about this problem, since i'm no longer on the team.

I suspect your IGP. If you can, I suggest trying to install a discrete video card because integrated Geforce/ATI GPUs are known to be crashy and have weird performance issues in many games.

You don't need a beefy discrete GPU, even something simple like an old 8600GT:

Would work fine.

Hey Gigabits please don't use liable website eBay because display cards are possible broken. Please use serious display cards like AMD or nVidia websites or go computer shops! It is safe to buy.

I doubt the 8600 pointed out would be on sale anywhere else,

Surely not the problem with the GTX 970 I have though??

I've tried disabling sound with -nosound (crashes on map load) and -wavonly (still crashes on gibs)

Which dev should I be pm'ing?

@Kirinator: Related? Try setting r_decals to 1. (Or higher, but not 0.)

I think I have the same issue, every time someone is gibed the game crashes. I'm running on a mac computer, we installed it via steam on wine, we did the same for two other computers, there were no issues with them. Only my computer crashes whenever someone is gibed. How do I fix this? I tried r_decals 1

Does the actual crash give you any errors on screen?
Are you able to validate the game cache (Just to ensure nothing is corrupt)

There is no error screen. The screen just freezes, it happened when SC 5 was just released aswell as yesterday.
How do i validate the game cache?
