In the manual it shows the early stages of the xen creatures including some real nice one like the original gargantua and I would like to have see some of those creatures in action like that huge gargantua on page 20-21 I would include a piture but i don not have one on my Pc.

The pitures are the background sketches if you don't see them then you have another version.

lol @ 60mb :p

If you will notice in other parts of the manual they have level plans. Among the few I recognize where the blast pit and that one part with the headcrabs coming out of the sand.
Isn't it wierd how the Garg seemed to start out with only melee attacks.

Here's picture 1

And here's picture2. That reminds me of the movie Proteus when Charlie shows his true self at the end, or at least the head does. Took forever to get this picture without a reflection of the light. It's a little blurry.

Thats the one good job leon this is the monster I wanted to show you people I would love to see that In Sven Co-op or a least a usable model of it.

25-03-2002, 06:20 AM
Yeah, that would look cool, but do we really need another variation of Garg? We've got baby garg, papa garg, chicken-fried-garg, garg-kabob, etc...

25-03-2002, 06:21 AM
and for those of you who dont know, the head at the front extends out and chomps ppl!

Thanks the old Garg is a cool monster and so is that old slave but that is a good piture thanks Neo.

26-03-2002, 03:40 PM
Man they shoulda kept the old garg, whats scarier? being burned with flaming arms or having your friggin torso bitten off by that thing? seriously...

26-03-2002, 04:41 PM
someone should make the old garg!! :)
anyone?? i cant model...

26-03-2002, 05:32 PM
I think that's the hellhound, an other monster altogether, not the gargantua.

26-03-2002, 08:50 PM
Nope, DeathBog, it's the garg. Check the bottom of the manual. You can clearly see the tops of "GARGANTUA".

plus besides from the head and that it walks on 4 legs it has the same body structure of the current garg

ummm ya ive seen dat, its was an old monster, it was doglike, like the houndeye and would attack when even one thing scares it, but one diffrence, it was replaced by the snarks, i cannot find it but lemme continue my search

its called the 'panther'.... im not sure if its included with HL, but it comes with the Full SDK as .SMD and 3dmax formats.

27-03-2002, 05:15 AM
perhaps changing the model of the itchysaurs could make the garg seem like its chomping someone?

the monsters in the manual are big , strong and frightening .
the concept art was really amazing but when i first played the game i was really dissapointed . the alien slave are so wimpy and gangly . they look like green nerds with their puny arms and colourful shock collars .
one thing i wanned most from the hd pack was something closer to the manuals sketches .

I found the thing, it shows the thing i was describing earlier http://www.planethalflife.com/davej/old/art_fast_walker.jpg

It's looking at things like that, that make you wonder what Valve has been smoking. They get rid of the best monster concept designs so they can make giant floating babies, big blue things that look like pokemon, and other laughable things. Oh well, maybe i'm looking at this the wrong way.

This creature needs to be made and the panther eye is being made by mark or coded. If you want to the see Panther Eye in action play Azure Sheep to see on kick butt. But that old garg should be made for SC but it should be called Snapjaw.
