View Full Version : Half-Life Nostalgia

I recently stumbled across a webpage that had some very interesting stuff on it. You can find it here:

Dancing grunts. Barney with a white cap. Floating, un-textured guns. It's all here. It's all Half-Life in the process of being made into the great game it is.

It isn't a trick, and it's not an April fools joke... it's all real. Go check it out for yourself.

may i ask what nostalgia means.

HL fact: Some of you might already know this, but when halflife was halfway done, the makers decided to scrap the project and start from the begining

LOL, great stuff tofu. Look at the barney in this shot, looks like he's on some kind of drug
and here's a primitve version of a robogrunt, looks funny
Honking donkey, here is the webster.com definition of nostalgia: a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition

how come i dont have shadows in half life?

Shadows were in Quake1 too, but then they realised the 486 could never handle those :). There is a console command r_shadows I think that worked with Qauke 1.. try it on HL can't promise you anything btw

Na. Valve removed shadows in one of the patches.

hmmmz, damn Valve!

The cool thing about those shots was that I saw them in a magazine. Not when they were originally published, but I did non the less. I was over at my friends last summer and I looked at some PC Magazine (now called PCGamer?) from 2 years ago. Things sure have changed.

Proving yet again, valve loved the andy griffiths show.

I've been saying that for a long time. I even posted about it a while back. Noone replied though. Theres a PHL POTD that also points that out:

Ok, it might JUST be me, but does the original Glock look better than the CURRENT Glock? What were those guys at Valve thinking..

CyPrEsS_SoLjA posted the pics of the green armor AGrunt and the "buff ass Canadian lumberjack!" on a different thread which now resides in DR somewhere...FUnny lumberjack tho.
