    Fix the name of the link from .zop to .zip. Otherwise, it's impossible to download. Anyway, was this moved to best of map showcase or did you post it here on accident?

    How could I doubt this map? It's beta was great so I should expect the same from the final, if not more . All I ask is to rename it to .zip instead of .zop. I was still able to download it through your signature, though, so it's all good!

    Hey, thank Mad Jonesy

    Hey dudes, thank Mad Jonesy. He's the one who literally got me into mapping. Like 2 months ago, I was looking to join the SvenCoop team to either to texture work, or to simply write articles for him. He said, "well, all we really need is a modeler. Why don't you try mapping?". I replied, "Well, I haven't mapped since Duke Nuke'm 3D, and I mapped pretty badly for them". He responded, "Well, everyones gotta learn some time. Why doncha try it".

    And so Desolation was born. My first released map, and my second attempt at a map, (the first one was also called desolation. It was like 10% complete. I decided to scrap it, and make this from scratch). I found out I can make maps pretty well :P

    I see the first post HAS been updated. Anyway, this map has way more co-op than simply "two players need to press these two buttons at the same time for the door to open". A team of players need to be outside, keeping aliens from killing the commander while another team goes down to the generator. Excellent.

    Yeah I edited it for him.

    I quite liked the map, some really good action seqeunces in many places. The architecture was above average for most of the maps, with a few places containing some nicely worked pieces. Texturing was pretty average, the actually texturing was good, but I think the choice of textures could be better, as most areas just seemed to have grey textures.
    I liked the lighting quite alot in some areas, such as outside, maybe a bit too dark in some key areas however.
    Monster battles were well done in my opinion, and there was a decent selection of enemies to battle as well.

    In conclusion a good map that is well made in most aspects.

    Good work solid, looks like you picked it up :P.

    There is actually another, "cooperation", part in the map. It hasta do with getting 10 hand grenades. You need someone to give you a boost to them. I won't ruin it any farther:P

    A good map, fine architecture and you have done some nice texturework. I`m quite pleased about the gameplay, wich makes the map very interresting.

    But those r_speeds really wreck your map. In some area`s they come up to 1200 wploy and 10000 epoly wich even the better systems can`t handle. Their are a drain on FPS. I`m sure you can do much with the editor but you must take a look at what`s the engine`s capability. Maybe you should take another look and put in some visblocks because I think the average wpoly on this map is 600-700.

    eh

    Yeah, I know it can still be high. Even though it can get into 1200, it is average 700. Trust me, I've been playing MANY svencoop maps, and my map is fairly good :P. As for the highness, it only occours once, maby twice in the map in a very short period of time, and I really don't think it's worth yet ANOTHER re-release, and 8 hrs of me working to reshape the stupid corrador :P.

    As for 700 average, the max for a good map is 800.

    I always appreciate new maps, and this one has a lot going for it. But the respawning spoils it for me, as I usually play Sven Coop with one friend. We're pretty good, but it takes forever to play with all the respawning. I suppose there are trigger points you could avoid but ...

    Enjoyed jumping for grenades though ...

    Desolation is being updated for the next update of Sven-Coop. It will feature:

    5 diffrent random paths

    Random monsters

    Random items, (sometimes you get grenades and bullets, sometimes you get something else)

    Less R_Speeds

    Maby a few new monsters if I can find some.

    Theres accually 4 ways, 2 alone, 2 with two people. The first alone is the one that was probably meant, and the other consists of holding the forward button till your to the top ^^. The other two are the broken ladder or the door, which you need two people for.

    um no. thats the secrets. This talks about random routes. It will still stay fairly close to the origional direction, (I hada increase the size of the light things to 80 JUST to compile!).
