    Aerodock1

    Thanks to Qwerty for the free map hosting.

    After a couple of months of on/off work this map is complete and ready for release. This only the first map of a 2 part series. I was originally going to change the name of the map but decided not to becuase as i was working the name kind of just "grew on me".

    Background info:
    Year 2119, deep space research center starts doing experiments in hopes to make the "Xen" creatures friendly. Word comes to them that the blackhole research faciliity already succeeded in making "Xen" Creatures friendly.
    April 19 2119:
    4 Blackhole Research scientests are taken hostage by The Deep Space Company. The hostages will be freed in exchange for the "Friendly Xen" research.
    April 20 2119:
    Negotiations over the hostages begin between the two facilities.
    April 21 2119:
    Negotiations fail and 2 Black Hole "Higher Ups" are murdered by Deep space soldiers.
    April 22 2119:
    Black hole operatives (Alpha Squad) are sent in and fail.
    April 23 2119:
    A second team of Black Hole operatives (Bravo Squad) are sent in, once again they fail.
    April 24 2119:
    Xen creatures begin attacking the Deep Space Research center perhaps in an attempt to free the Xen creatures being experimented on.
    A third team of Black Hole operatives (You) are sent in to rescue the hostages...

    This map kind of kills the HL2 storyline but i dont really care. If you encounter any bugs please post them here and i'll get onto fixing them immideatly.

    Host_Error: PF_precache_sound_I: Sound 'garg/gar_alert2.wav' failed to precache because the item count is over the 512 limit.
    Reduce the number of brush models and/or regular models in the map to correct this.

    Hmmm thats interesting becuase i didn't get that error when i played through it (3 times) i'll have to see if its just me that doesnt get or if its just you that gets it or if 50% get it 50% don't.

    Edit: My friend doesn't get it either so perhaps you were running a plugin of sorts which caused the error?

    :o Awesome

    The garg bit outside was VERY cool once the baby gargs were dead. Until they died though it was plain annoying because you couldnt get outside.

    Ok now im really confused about this because me and 2 friends succesfully played it earlier today. If anyone else gets this error can they post about it.

    Check this, I seperated my client from server mods, so it's just like if I freshly installed Sven Co-op:

    SZ_GetSpace: overflow on netchan->message

    SOLUTION: Delete the "Aerodock1_motd.txt" file in your /SvenCoop/maps/ folder or rename it to "2Aerodock1_motd.txt."

    3.0 to 3.9 = Fine map, needs improvements and touchup in some areas.
    4.0 to 4.9 = Very Good! Needs a small ammount of improvement or touchups.

    Its in the second part(The map does end but on a cliff hanger), i'm working on creating that now.

    Pretty nice map, good in lenght and getting those keys to acces new area's is a nice feature. Good job there, although the workout of gameplay and details could use some extra work. Its often smaller rooms with a lot of monsters instead of tactical monsterplacement, and especially at the start, to rooms act pretty flat and blocky. Although you tried to break that with some pillars, it needs more.

    The texturing in the first area's doesn't really fit right, and the objects are often in the same texture type so the overall picture of a room is pretty bland. Might be better to try and find some custom (future,tech) textures for those rooms.

    My rating is 5.5/10, some nice gameplay features but needs extra work on quite a few aspects.

    Thanks for the positive feed back everyone . Work has already started on Aerodock2 and i've got plans for it that will make it hopefully ALOT better then this map.

    Same here. I need to see what Im about to download. But I'll give this a try. Since im collecting Sven Coop maps to review as well as play.

    Wait a minute, I've seen that error before!

    Did you put a quotation mark in the motd? Half-Life will only support quote marks in an env_message!!!!!1~~~!111!!
