    The portal map currently has 167% alloc block. Didn't see anything wrong

    Got two questions. One, is tor tor?(tor.mdl). Two: is tors master gman? (was kingpin). Three (surprise question): is it expanded? meaning svencoop 1, 2 & 3 in the same map?

    I have no internet for almost 3 months now because nobody knows what the problem actually is ...
    But good thing is i was super productive since then.

    This is a "PVP" map where you have to buy/combine/sell crystals.
    It is round based and prices change and all kinds of super cool special round rules are going on.
    It plays a lot like a board game. Winner is who has the most money after 10/15/20 rounds.

    I use a custom weapon for earch crystal to save/show players current crystalcount. The money is the players score, so everyone can see how much money everyone has.

    Yes, it is pretty much finished.
    Same with my labyinth map.
    But i kind of would like join any playtests, so it has to wait a few more weeks until i hopefully have internet at home again.

    Maybe i'll have a third map ready then 8-)

    Little preview of the labyrinth map. Your mission is to find 4 random boxes (red,blue,yellow,green) which spawn at random positions and bring them to the spawn room in the middle. Walls, monster/trap positions is all random. Visblocking was a real pain on this.

    Bet it was. (Glad you found a solution).
    @ _RC Out of interest, did you initially start "Visblocking" due to "Max Portals on a Leaf" or due to "r_speeds" ?.

    r_speeds. I cant remember ever having had that max portals error.
    Usally my fps drop dramatically when wpolys are over 2500 (on a pretty old/weak computer).
    Sometimes i get that ingame error msg, not sure what it was called ... max visable entities exceeded or something like this with entities over the limit being invisible. After wpolys that is most commom reason for visblocking in my case.

    Yeah, the engine craps out after you get above ~1500 wpoly. Doesn't matter what hardware you have running the game.

    I once played this water park map that rendered over 5k wpoly from most angles, didn't experience any noticeable slowdown.

    @_RC Ah - ok, if your interested "Max Portals on a Leaf" is when you have to many inter-connected rooms (with no visblocking).
    I think the max is around 64. Eek / meh, Nope: 256 Apparently.

    That's a really cool model!

    I think the texture is quite grainy and has a stone-like appearance. You'd expect some kind of bump light effect on it, so I guess that's why it looks off. Also, those darker lines/indents running up the legs seem a bit wierd to me. So try a little blur effect or maybe a different colour scheme?

    There are no signs of subsurface scattering, so the skin looks like rock. Newer engines would enable you to provide an SSS map; in Goldsource you have to wing it using the color texture. Basically you tint the areas of the model which are likely to be occluded from ambient light in the color of the character's blood.



    Skin also looks strangely dry due to lack of specular reflections. Again, this would normally be the engine's job; not in Goldsource. Placing these highlights manually takes some experience. I recommend checking out existing models for reference.

    And 8 classes?
    Is any class needed and some point of the map, or is it just players preference which class to use?
    I hope you release that one, it seems a lot of great maps are being made in the last 12 months but i rareley see any of those released.

    Yes, you can select the difficulty at the start which will give you a certain amount of tickets and when they run out you'll lose. There's Easy (50 tickets), Medium (25), Hard (10) and Insane (1). Once the tickets go out, the game goes into Survival Mode, so that's the final showdown.

    As for the classes, there are 7 and 1 special bonus class, which only become available under certain conditions. For some areas you will need explosives, which only a few classes carry. So when you have a small team, you\ll need to plan ahead. And of course, each class has its strenghts and weaknesses.

    The map will surely be released, since it's very near to completion!
