Mhh looks okay, it looks more like metal with these kind of scratches to be fair. Give it maybe some color for high/depths but still good for handpainted.

To criticize this more constructively, I think the main problem is that the piece of wood you made (which I believe to be a shotgun stock) looks like it has been coated with transparent wood varnish (reflection highlights near top) but at the same time you have these dings all over it which look like there is no varnish at all. If those dings happened after varnish was applied (which is likely I guess), you'd only really see a displacement of the specular reflections (which you need to fake if this is for Goldsource ye ye) and no intense dark patches. It might be a bit of a different deal with the engraved text, since you could make believe it's so much darker because it was burnt in or something.

If it makes you feel any better though, take this most recent attempt of mine which isn't very good either, even if for entirely different reasons: https://i.imgur.com/IKFIVSu.png

Yeah the pits actually look really out of place and would look suited better for porus concrete (but without any shine). But for an almost first time using old-style look methods I think I picked it up pretty quickly. Furthermore, i forgot to mention that in the final BMP I put a flat color on the "background" due to those shades possibly using up/wasting pallete space. Also in a real setting id use better UV space but this was a quick proof of concept so I just kinda winged it. Soon ill do a proper gun stock.

Now for something completely different I finally managed to pull off a decent path constraint loop:

Now for those wondering why I didnt just loop a short advancement, its because of the "snap-back" effect that was seen on the old sven healthpack monitor. pipebubbles.mdl showed me how they did constant scrolling and it was a loop path. Still a WIP but i'm using a lot of _chrome textures since for the metal base, rubber handrail and glass.

Reminds of when Aurora did that with func_trains. It worked pretty well collision and all, but had the snap effect that you mentioned because of ex_interp.

Animation frames being strictly interpolated is a pretty old problem. Hacking around it is the common solution, though I think you could have done this with almost half as many steps by making them return quickly once they go down.

Your escalator is very short for its night. Try and use a 1:4 ratio

@The303, great job! Pfff! How do you get collision. So sad Goldsource Engine has not collisions for models...

Came back to my random labyrinth project.
First pic was the plan for the map, second is the map in its current state.
Red blocks are random walls, script for generating the labyrinth is done and works well.

Plan is to give the players a preview of parts of the labyrinth and then let them choose from 3 random sets of objectives (bring things to spawn,...)
Maybe ill make some custom monsters for the map.

It is a Black Mesa type map series. It takes place before, during, and after the incident, with additional twists and turns.
