Have you tried re-installing Half Life? I found that that works. You delete the game files (through Steam) and then re-install.

Same problems here. Unistalling HL ? If that the only way, thanks. That's another example of why i think Steam sucks.

I don't see why everyone is saying "bring back WON"... WON had so many more bugs than Steam has. Yeah sure, in the beginning Steam was rubbish, but it's improved so much since then.

Maybe in general, but apparently not for Talos. He's just describing the facts of his experience.

Nanobot/Talos: Could you try moving your SvenCoop folder out of your Half-Life directory (as a backup), then installing a clean copy of 3.0, and tell us the results? I've heard from a couple of people with this problem just recently.

there are two types of steam users
    1) steam fanboy, allways saying to those who have bugs something like this "OMFG STEAM ROXX, YOU CANT GET IT TO WORK CUS U SUXX!"
    2) dissapointed steam user, usually saying things like "help me please, ive got a problem with steam. i just wish we would have WON instead."

Not to bring it all ot, but WON was always rock-stable, and I had used it before TFC came out. Draw your own conclusions. Also of note, they are releasing a network known as WON2, to revive the old style.

Usually, a full, fresh install should do it.
Don't forget to backup your "CD key" in your registery, and remove it completely. Alternativly, you could simply remove the SC folder like Sven suggested, and reinstall SC over the top again.
    Sigs are over-rated.

Did it these ways and many others i could have in mind, but still doesn't work. Thanks for the help, but i think i'll be waiting for Valve to fix that bug instead of wasting my time trying to do it by my own.

    Re: VALVE and Sven problem

It all depends. Won was buggy as hell with me, but I have never gotten one problem like this with Steam. I'm always hearing people complain about steam but I guess I'm just lucky.

    =/

P.S. Bitching about WON is not going to bring it back, so please stop mentioning it. It gets annoying after awhile.

    Re: VALVE and Sven problem

it might be specific combo's of your hardware and other software *maybe* that causes the problem

    Re: VALVE and Sven problem

Gah :/... maybe I'll try e-mailing Valve about it. For now, only thing I can think of is to report it as a bug at steampowered.com... if you do, make sure to mention that everything worked fine up until the HL1 engine update, that a clean install doesn't help, and that you're not the only person experiencing this problem. Might help to hurry things up a bit.

    Re: VALVE and Sven problem

I fixed my single player CS1.6 with the same problem by deleting sv_lan 0 from my listenserver.cfg file.

This is a common problem from the last update and was discussed on the Steam forums.

    Good luck!

That is ONLY an opinion. Steam still has a ****load of bugs, and now I can't play CSS, haven't been able to for 4 months. And I'd say that the extreme majority still has at least a bug of some degree with Steam.

That was clear from the beginning but now one dares to say steam sucks.
