The sound drivers are still corrupted every couple of days and I'm forced to reinstall them if I want full surround sound support.

Well my chipset used to be burning hot (I've got one of the first ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe's, the ones with the faulty fan) and my Graphics card used to run at 65-70C under load.

Now with one fan on low on the rad (The rest is just passive) the chipset is cold and the graphics card runs at 36C under load. The best money I've spent.

My advice: Go for the best you can, it's an investment. I spent about £150 on doing my graphics and chipset, and I'm VERY impressed.

Woo, after 2 months of buggering around getting components and sorting incompatibilities out, my new PC is finally working!

    Akasa Eclipse-62 Case
    MSI Diamond Plus Motherboard
    (Onboard: Audigy 2, 2xGigabit Ethernet)
    Athlon X2 4800+ Processor
    2GB Corsair XMS Twin-X 3200C2-PT Memory

Am I the only one with a total over-kill stock single core CPU?

AMD FX-55 ClawHammer (Low week number, capable of 3GHZ+ overclock)
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum nForce 4 Ultra Motherboard
    2GB (4x 512MB) Kingston Value RAM
ATI Radeon X850XT PE (With a Zalman VF900-CU Cooling Fan)
    Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
    Yamaha XG YMF
    2x 40GB HDD IDE
    1x 80GB HDD SATA
    Lite-On DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
Tagan 480W (Really needs upgrading, I'm pulling just over 400W from it constantly)

    Accessories:
    Logitech Media Elite Keyboard
    Acer AL1912 16MS 19" TFT
Razer Copperhead Tempest Blue w/ QPad

I won't even start on the upgrade I'm getting in a couple of months (let's just say, the number on the CPU goes to 60).

    Re: post your computer pics/specs

Changed my cooling and a few other things. In need of a better CPU though.

    Hardware:
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe - Water cooled chipset
    AMD64 3000+ s939 @ 2700Mhz (300x9, 1.525V) - Water cooled
    XFX PCI-E 7800GTX256 @ 499/1400 - Water cooled
    Corsair 2x 512MB TwinX XMS PRO @ 190Mhz, 2-3-3-6-1T
    1x 80GB 10,000RPM SATA HDD (Windows)
    1x 250GB 7200RPM SATA2 HDD (Gaming / Files)
    1x 120GB 7200RPM SATA HDD (Backups)
    Tagen TG580-U15 EasyCon 580Watt PSU
    Lian-Li V2000B case
    Some random DVD-RW
    M-Audio FireWire Solo

    Water cooling:
Laing DCC Plus (18W) Pump with Alphacool top
    Swiftech Storm Rev2 CPU Waterblock
    Danger Den Maze4-GPU Waterblock
    Danger Den Maze4-Chipset Waterblock
Thermochill PA120.3 (Triple 120mm) Rad with 3x 120mm Yate Loon fans on it
    Swiftech MicroRes
    ~11ft of 1/2"ID, 3/4"OD Clearflex tube

    Temps:
(These temps are approx, I will get better temps once I reinstall XP. Got Vista on there currently, so I'm lacking software to measure temps and load the CPU / GPU due to drivers.)
    Room temp: 25C
    CPU: ~40C Loaded
    GPU: ~34C Loaded

    Pics:

I still need to neaten up some wiring and sleve some cables.
However, the best bit is: This rig is SILENT.

    Enjoy.

Edit: More temps, this time from in the bios: (My room temp has gone up a little now.)
    Case temp: (Mobo temp) 28C
    CPU temp: 28C
Not bad considering that the rad draws the air from inside the case. That's less than a 1C temp delta between the rad's intake temp and the CPU die temp.
