    This was really the first map i ever made for Sven Co-op so im sorry if you think it sucks.
    The map is called genge_ship; genge being my last name and ship because it takes place on
    an alien ship.

    I've never really posted something on the forums before so if it doesnt work tell me.

    my, not bad for a first map.
    needs larger floors, less aliens and better lighting.

    It was actually good for a first attempt. Simple objectives and fights , i like this. I agree with Puchi though , the map needs larger rooms , otherwise people will get blocked by others easily.

    May I suggest using the free map hosting service for Sven Co-op?

    You should actually test the map and give suggestions instead of advertising , no ?

    I thought this was already discussed. First of all, it's not advertising. I was about to download the map anyhow, only until I saw that my image was missing a line of pixels (of which I fixed).

    Architecture ::
    0.95 out of 5.0
    Rather blocky, but the various elevations in the map, stairs, and corners helped a little bit to get the main idea of the gameplay through. It's ok, but it needs more ooh's and ahh's to it.

    Texture Usage ::
    1.0 out of 5.0
    I saw a lot of the same texture out there, thank goodness it wasn't that repetitive. Along with architecture, texture usage must give off sufficient detail to thrust a propelling theme into the map.

    Gameplay ::
    1.35 out of 5.0
    Very early in the map, you recieve super weapons. That's a fatal mistake. Although I did enjoy some refreshments at the beginning at one point, you didn't really see much of that afterwards. It's almost like the resources just fade out; in the beginning you have some resources (rather too much), then quickly fades out to where you have to finish the rest of the map without a break. Just alone playing the map, it was extremely easy and went through as clean as a breeze. It needs to be harder, yet not repetitive. Don't have too many of the same monsters here and there, like the vents overloaded with rather strong headcrabs that take out nearly an entire clip of ammo.
    I enjoyed that trap of yours, where you'd get crushed by the way. :> It took me 2 deaths to figure it out. I liked how the first part of a map used a specific theme, then it alternated into different sections. Like the new metal, industrial, radioactive, and then the yellowish stuff. Although there wasn't much of architecture and texturing to it, that is something I enjoyed.

    Fun Factor ::
    0.8 out of 5.0
    It got kinda boring with some over-lengthened repetitive architecture and texture use, and the fact I had super weapons pretty much the whole map through. Here and there there may have been too much of the same monster, or just not suitable for the environment. You might want to examine each monster, and ask yourself what it's main idea/purpose in the storyline is (like reading a novel and asking yourself what the main point was). Is it too much?

    Overall Rating ::
    1.03 out of 5.0
    It needs more cheese and cake (oh and don't forget pie!). It need's some suspension, some ambient noises, some dramatic scenes. To me, it seems like you just intrude an enemy ship, and simply without any difficulty breeze through to the unguarded control room and take it over. That's too easy. Maybe add one of those "something goes wrong," sort of things. Try imagining as if you wrote this storyline down on paper; what grade would one of your English/Language teachers give you if it were a very important essay? You might want to approach trying to get an A or A+ grade on it. Sometimes just making up a storyline and writing it down before you open Hammer might help. Brainstorm, rough draft, proof read, improve and add more, proof read, final copy, proof read, finalize everything before "turning it into the teacher."

    Overall Rating Definitions ::
    0.0 to 0.9 = Horrible, map needs a lot of work!
    1.0 to 1.9 = Poor mapping, the majority of the level lacks effort.
    2.0 to 2.9 = Average, needs some improvements and touchup in most areas of the level.
    3.0 to 3.9 = Fine map, needs improvements and touchup in some areas.
    4.0 to 4.9 = Very Good! Needs a small ammount of improvement or touchups.
    5.0 = Excellent, Best Map of Showcase (BMS)!

    Category Definitions ::
    Architecture is the level and variety of architecture styles used to give the environment its taste and feel.
    Texture usage is how unique textures are used together, where they are used, when they are used, and how often they are used.
    Gameplay is what the player experiences during any interaction of the map(s), which includes if you put too much or too little of enemies to fight against, and might include how, when, and where puzzles or mini-games are used. For a more detailed description of gameplay, click here.
    Fun Factor is the level of excitement, fun, or enjoyment experienced in the map(s).

    In no way was this rating system designed or intended on hurting or discouraging any mapper in any way.

    This map isn't really new. I've had this map for a while. I started it and finnished it during the 2 week long
    teacher strike (oh god that two week strike was awesome!). This is the map where I started using doors and found out how to make curves.

    I think I should also add that I'm working on another map called genge_scilabs.
    scilabs is going to be a series following a better story line.

    ill copy paste the motd here:

    -=Genge Science Labs=-

    Alright men, listen up.
    There is a top secret science facility called the
    Genge Science Labs located somewhere in the North
    Eastern Mountains above the abandoned Heckard Storage
    Complex. Since you're the high ranking operatives, you
    get to carry out the mission.

    These are your objectives:

    ~Locate the facility and infiltrate it.

    ~Kill threatening security personel.

    ~Kill all scientists and employees.

    ~Assassinate the lead scientist.

    ~Assassinate the benefactor of the facility.

    ~Obtain data on technological and biological
    experiments.

    ~Acquire and bring back experimental weaponry.
    Use during the mission if neccessary.

    ~Detonate an explosive in facility's main reactor
    to bring down the rest of the facility.

    ~Get the hell out and meet at the extraction point.

    All of the objectives are mission criticle so don't
    screw up! The stealth planes are waiting outside to
    drop you off. Move out!

    Thats the motd.

    I'm hoping to make scilabs at least 6 maps long. LARGE MAPS! but not so large that they crash a server. Genge ship was made around october 2005 and I've learned a lot since then.
    I now know how to do rotating objects, map transitions (woot!), complex and realistic rock and cliff faces. I also have learned how to add custom models and I can make wads now
    I can also do puzzles that use pushable objects, triggers and targets. And if thats not enough, I know how to use the trigger_camera to make cutscenes. This is gonna be one helluva map.

    Just to let you know.

    I actually liked it. It's not necessarily a high quality map, but it reminds me of the old 2.0 and earlier Sven Maps. Keep up the good work and imrpovement.

    it seems like u read many tutorials...
    lets see

    lets see
    Sven Co-op does not support scientists with firearms. The simple trick is to make a model replacement for the human grunts, using the scientist models, and applying a firearm to the model.

    Well, I like killing ppl that cant defend themselves
    Just give the scis syringes, they are trying to stab you with then, but no real weapons. Scis are much to weak to fire weapons - excluding gordon freeman

    To the Map:
    Had quite some Fun moments, I'm giving it a 5 of 10

    One thing I really didn't like: Early in the Map, there were Doors with "security" on it. Do Aliens speak/write/read English? They totally didn't fit in.

    hmm... about the defending scientist thing, maybe i should put human grunts in when i get to mapping that (ive been to busy with gr8 math, english other subject homework). but if u make a scientist an enemy doesnt he pull out a need and poison u like in secret city?

    also, ive been having problems with sound effects when i use the ambient_generic entity.
    this is what my console says after i cancle it when it freezes on verifying resources.
