Post Tor No Longer Featured in Sven Co-op 3.5

Tor, the Alien Overseer, will no longer be included with Sven Co-op 3.5 due to the sale of his name, voice and likeness to software company Blizzard Entertainment. I realise that this may be a disappointment to some, but hope that you will all come to see that this arrangement benefits all parties. Blizzard has been very enthusiastic about Tor's role in World of Warcraft, calling him a "perfect fit" for the game. Tor will be a level 64 Elite mob (though smaller Level 2 versions will be used in the Blood Elf starting area) with the ability to summon monsters to aid him in battle. If you play WoW, you should be seeing Tor in-game after the next scheduled update.

With annual revenues from World of Warcraft exceeding US$1 billion, Blizzard was able to be more than generous with their offer for Tor. The settlement has allowed us to engage Texas developer Gearbox Software to complete work on Sven Co-op 3.5 -- Meanwhile, the team and I will be taking a well-deserved rest.

One of the major advantages of Gearbox taking over is that 3.5 will now be ported to all major consoles. A hand-held version is also in the works, running on a proprietary engine created by Black Widow Games.

This chain of events has really opened our eyes to the benefits of selling off this sort of content. We are now open to offers for any and all Sven Co-op intellectual property -- Please direct enquiries to sales@svencoop.com. Edit: Our apologies to interested parties, but the Headcrab is currently unavailable due to copyright issues.

    UPDATE:
Our dear and loyal Sven Co-op fans,

We are currently negotiating the sale of our trademark “Viking Assault”, to be used as a quest title in the upcoming WoW expansion pack “Warcraft Adventures: Lord of Clans”. Blizzard, however, is not convinced that players will find this title suitably irresistible. As we need this money to buy the Principality of Sealand (for reasons we are unable to disclose), we ask that everyone reading this would please Click Here to send Blizzerd an e-mail threatening to boycott Warcraft Adventures if 'Viking Assault' is not used as a quest name. Do it RIGHT NOW! Thanks.

Great news as always Sven! Tor looked like shit anyway, it's glad to see you are all now taking a good rest and are getting money to buy Sealand!
Also Gearbox taking command of SC is just marvelous!
    Don't mind me.

If you buy sealand, can I go on vacation there for free?

Can't wait to see what Gearbox does with 3.5.

I'm happy that we can finally get to finish 3.5. Hopefully Gearbox will properly implement the OP4 monsters and weapons. Because the way Sniper did it.... Well I don't think I need to say more about that.

I've only tried WoW once, and I didn't like it much. Maybe I should try it out again since the developers seem so interested in the SvenCo-op art style.

I heard that GearBox is also planning a PS2 port, primarily an offline version that will have a few features that the more modern consoles won't have. However, I did read that Gearbox is will (hopefully!) plan multiplayer support, so those of us who have an online adapter can still take the PS2 version of SC online. The Tor seen in the image will eventually be removed, as the disc was created prior to Tor being sold to Blizzard Entertainment.

A preview of the SC PS2 disc. Currently in the works, according to GearBox. I had to upload it to image shack, since their server was getting nailed hard.

Will the handheld version be on the PSP or the DS or both? Will it also be cross platform compatible?

Gearbox is really doing a great job on SC 3.5. One of the key new features of 3.5 was the new Beer & Hockeystick weapon, but Sniper had problems coding it. Gearbox told us today that they managed to get it working, so expect that with the new release !

Meanwhile, I'm off to the pub to enjoy my share of the money we made from selling out Tor

I would never buy this game. If it got comercialized, they'd add things specifically for the masses in huge patches, and the masses are retarded. As much as we enjoy toonrun, having 30+ evn wierder versions would be a bit much.

Nice job sellling out though, can't wait for them to completely ruin and over advertise it.

You guys forgot to send an email to Blizzerd threatening to boycott their game. It's important that we get through this together, and support each other.

I have also made some money off of this. I have sold all of my member's contact information to both Blizzard and Gearbox. Cheers!
