    couple of questions.

    Are detail overlay textures being kept or not ?
    You mentioned removing custom models, but what about custom sounds and sprites ?

    I think an increased resolution version of the halflife.wad would be a good idea.

    nanites each weapon uses
    Would this be similar to the SystemShock2 ammo management system where nanites are spent to buy ammo ?

    Sven Co-op will now handle all matchmaking automatically
    Like L4D2 ?
    but will we still have the option to search for servers (like L4D2) ?

    Mouse & keyboard is still supported
    possible console ports.
    I was thinking, What about a joypad control system option, this would make the controls even simpler and will be needed if your thinking about ports.

    all official maps will take place in Black Mesa
    Does this include series like TheyRHungry or will some exceptions be made ?

    and players will take on a consistent role as helmeted HEV science personnel
    Not going to work, you need at least a few others, eg. Opposing forces would need a US marine .mdl
    A better idea would be to continue using the force model option but expand it to all maps...
    Black mesa maps use the helmet sci
    The HalfLife series use's gordon
    The Opposing forces series use's US marine (and other army based maps)
    etc.

    Secondary fire modes have been removed as they're just not necessary any more!
    How will this efect the donator abilities (electric crowbar, chum toads) ?

    And now some ideas

    All maps should be renamed to include sc_

    Maps to be aproved by the SC team before being allowed on servers (keep the crap ones out)

    Ban, or include Xp mod as standard (to avoid confusion between servers)

    Steam achievements, the non gameplay modifing type, eg 100hours play time, 1000kills. play 100 maps without dying.

    I like the idea of six weapons... can we choose our weapon load out so players won't get lost searching for one of the six weapons?

    Some of these ideas in the news post might be a good thing to add, in all honesty.

    I really like what I've read so far with the new direction Sven Co-op is going in. Take a page from L4D2; start with 3 medium power weapons with 3 high power weapns to be found later. Has anyone thought of limited servers? 4 to 5 max per server.
    The only thing that disturbs me is the removal of buddy healing. With a max server size of 4 or 5 players healing a eachother becomes more important. I just finished a 4 map campaign for L4D2 and if we weren't able to use first aid kits and defibrillators it would be very hard to finish a map. Healing is a powerful co-op!

    This all seems great but just for the record.

    1. I'm a jack of all trades (use any weapon of any type with no reason at all except the huge gargs those require explosive)

    2. I hope this dose no remove custom player models because people can't see it anyway unless they have the models. (if i did not real it right in the news)

    3. this better not destroy my donation items for electric crowbar or gold uiz's otherwise that money would be a big waste.

    But yea for me i love using any weapon, for me i don't need to know what weapon to use for which monster(except the huge gargs). If i want to be a noob and rush in a mob of enemy's with a crowbar and die hey that's me, i prefer to rush in and kill and die rather than surviving.

    I'm glade i know everything about playing sven co-op i played since the vary first sven co-op was out i never had any problems what char im playing as becuse i know what player model i'm in and i never stay in browser looking for servers i go to the same old servers that's been around since 3.0. But even if this change makes sven co-op better it better not impact the way i see sven co-op as it was always was since 3.0. If i see something i can't stand the loss of a ability to do something i do all the time i won't download to the new version, or go way back to the sven co-op 3.0 version.


    About the ammo for weapons its soo easy to know what ammo is for which example: Buckshot(shotgun ammo) for shotgun. I hope that the new features that was added ever sense the new sven co-op after 3.0 don't get removed because it be a waste of time in the first place. Plus reviving with a med kit makes sense if it did not why was it added in the first place matter of fact if this update is going to reverse the features added back to the old 3.0 why didnt they just fix the bugs and stuff and kept the old 3.0.

    Wait, so, all weapons removed? What about my Golden Uzi's? WHAT THE HELL, MAANNN!

    In my opinion, sure, a few changes were good. But all maps removed? All weapons removed? MATCHMAKING? It's like CoD MW2!

    How about a time attack mode, where you can take records of your play time?
    When playing Sven Co-op, it's all about getting the mission done as fast as possible!!

    I can see that it could be really successfull on the market out there for sure.

    Indeed, we managed to improve the map's visuals substantially by converting it to a xen map. But if you had paid attention in the dev forum and the first page of this very thread, you would know that we decided to scrap it due to various issues.

    I guess you're right Nih, the Xen world is a bit too unrealistic anyway. I don't think players should be subjected to anything other than normal gravity.

    Also do we really need a crowbar AND a wrench? Two melee attack weapons? Why?

    Oh wow that is a good idea-- we could have achievements for completing maps fast enough.
    But wouldn't this make things a bit too complicated for new-commers?

    Maybe if we just did one achievement at a time, and rotate the map each month? A sort of monthly challenge thing.

    Another thought -- I should trim down the score board to just a player list. There is no need to have a score element, and a death counter is just useless info.

    I think you guys should add an auto play function to the game because sometimes i'm tired and can't play myself or other times the map is too hard.
