    Airport Beta - a 6 years project

UPDATE: my map uses a sprite which turned out not to be default content
I've updated the files and it should be good now. If you just want the sprite, download the attached file and place it in you \half-life\SvenCoop\sprites folder.
I come here today to release the beta version of a project I started in 2005.
    It's called Airport.
It has 2 parts and it's simple walk through except for the ending which requires you to defend your aircraft and repair the engines. It is beatable alone but might be a bit difficult at some points.
I admit the architecture is nothing fancy compared to the stuff some guys are pulling today.
Feel free to add your suggestions as I plan to release the final version this year.

    Screens:

Special thanks to cSMG, El Gringo, Fer (my GF) and JPolito.

Pringles Crowbar Model and animations by Kattmat
PG-150 (small plane model) by Barney (aka narby)
Scotch and Luggage models by cSMG

Further reading (not important, just some curiosities):
    > I learned 95% of my mapping skills while doing this
    > This release is actually the second attempt to do this map in 2006
    > The first attempt had so many mapping mistakes it had do be abandoned
    > I decided to start over when it didn't compile after leaving the computer on for 3 days
    > The second try also had many problems and from 2007 to May this year I barely opened the files since I wasn't sure they were fixable
    > I finished this because I felt it was something I had to do after putting so much efforts on it.
    > One of the solutions for the problems was to split the map in two, that's why it has all these inaccessible areas visible in both maps.

Thumbs up Re: Airport Beta - a 6 years project

From the pics it looks good. Nice way to use the default HL textures. I'll give it a try later.

Wow it looks really awesome, but in the last pic the runway looked wrong.
and you should totally have in the final chapter an epic airplane fight in which you guys escape from the airport only to have some crazy u.s marines jump from a plane tailing you to stop you from getting away
    Thus spoke Ian

That was made with screenshots from Google Earth lol, I had in mind to replace the whole outer floor, but I'm not good with textures.
Now that you mention, I think I'll try to do it for the final version.
    Thanks.

I wanted to play these maps but none of them seem to start.

The first one hangs on "Parsing game info" and will not finish loading.

The second one demands a fog2.spr which is not included in the file container but I got the map working with a dummy file.

I played to the part where I had to defend the plane but because I played alone it was kinda hard to do that and well I was destroyed

The helicopters had so much healthpoints that I would have been busy shooting them for next few days.

I guess with more players it would be working quite good ^^

Fixed the sprite thing, see the original post.
But I still don't now what could be de deal with the first map.

I'm not sure if its possible, but maybe I could make the damage done by the machine guns on the plane to adjust itself depending on the ammount of players (less players more damage). Anyone know if its possible?

I know, 6 years for that is too much. I started it when I was 15 or 16 and quit working on it for many years. I feel happy to finish it at last and I think a beta is necessary before I make the final touches. Right now people are giving me feedback which will result in a perfectly working final release. And I've admitted it's not a good looking map but it's way better than 70% of what's out there and could be more fun to play than many good looking maps.

If I had more free time I'd probably improve it.
