    Standard Crate "Fortified" Beta Released

    Sven Co-op Developer "Nih" has released a beta version of his map Fortified 1, a Venture Bros. inspired map in which players take the role of the “Secret Assault Crew”, who must infiltrate a space station constructed by the super-scientist known as Dr. Merkwürdiglust, and assassinate the doctor before he can activate an ion cannon set to destroy the moon.



    In the map, one player assumes the role of commander, who uses a menu to equip players with weapons, call airstrikes, spawn allied NPCs, and monitor the assault's progress. Other players must work together to hack terminals on the death station to gain rewards and delay the doomsday weapon's activation.

    The map features voice acting by Josh "JPolito" Polito as every character, with Black Mesa's Mike "CornetTheory" Hillard (known for his role as the voice of the male scientist) performing the ending epilogues.

    Be sure to post feedback for the map in the map's original thread! A finalized version of the map with gameplay tailored to the feedback of players will be included in the 5.0 release.




    And on an unrelated note, "w00tguy" recorded a neat Gource video which displays a visual representation of Sven Co-op game repository expansion since 2008. Definitely worth taking a look at.

    Yes we just had a playtest and it was great fun. Much more tactics and communication than on a normal map.

    My only request (if you still making changes to this map) is that the commander can somehow set waypoints for the players. A big sprite that hovers over the map and says "Attack here". The comm should be able to move this sprite around freely.

    I havent tested this feature yet but the trigger_camera has an option to teleport entities to the courser location. Maybe you could use that.

    That's an interesting idea. I'll look into implementing that, assuming it is possible to teleport sprites. A combination of a "gather here" and an "attack here" sprite, using the middle and right click buttons, would be probably be useful.

    Edit:
    On second thought, a "Go here" sprite solution using only the right click would probably be the most intuitive.

    Yes but the nemesis that is the RPG grunts do annoy me (And kill me over and over)

    I found the whole map very difficult. You need a lot of players to beat it I guess. But it is awesome that they made a whole set of new enemies. All in the same style.

    If i try to connect to a Server with the Map on, theres a Message: Warning: File nih_hex_interface.wad is too big to transfer from host "myip".

    How can i fix that, or what do i have to change on the server to get the DL work?

    The easiest fix for this?
    Download all the files from the download-link in the first post instead of downloading everything from the server while connecting :P

    Yeah you don't want to be downloading it from the server as you will be there forever unless it has HTTP download

    If anyone else experiences this, please post. I might split the .wad into two files.

    Maybe it will work if the server uses http download?

    There is an easy fix, not being lazy and download the pack from the give link.
    Like others mentioned before.
    Then it is 100% sure you gonna have all the files.

    thanks, i switched to http donwload.. now i got the same message again, is there any way to get it work? Can i set the size for transfers?
