    Pitch black map

When I compile a map using Vluzacn's modified version of zhlt's I get a pitch black map. I am using v33 of the tools. The map editor I am using is Jackhammer, but I have tried in Hammer as well. Has anyone had this problem and come up with a solution, or does anyone know what could be causing this? Thanks.

Here's a picture of the map when I compile:

    Here's when I add this command to hlrad "-ambient 1 1 1"

(Yes. this is quake engine, but I'm making this map for personal use)

I have tried raising the ambient levels as well and it didn't change anything...

I doubt Vluzacn's tools were designed to be compatible with Quake. You should use these instead.

I know this is way late, but I'd figure I'd answer it anyway.

Darkplaces is primarily designed to run idtech1, and as such is designed to really only run BSP formats that use or are based on idtech1 (ie. Quake.) While Half-Life has roots in idtech1, it also has elements of idtech2 and is further heavily extended to do things neither of the original base engines could do.

Quake had monochromatic radiosity and no support for sky based radiosity (light being cast from sky textures) so things compiled with Half-Life compile tools aren't guaranteed to work properly. And by using the Half-Life compile tools, you guarantee that no vanilla Quake client is going to be able to play the map.
