    zhlt_usemodel

    Assigning the "zhlt_usemodel" key to an info_target or info_null does not appear to work (the entity does not show up). Is this intentional?

    IIRC, zhlt_usemodel is used to copy a model from a brush entity to another brush entity. Thus, you cannot use it with info_target or info_null. What you want is probably a func_wall using the key. Remember to add origin brushes to both models.

    Is there also a way to copy actual models (MDL files) inside a map, in the same sense that zhlt_usemodel copies 'brush models'?

    Each instance of a model uses the same model file so there is no need for a hack like this.
    15 alien slaves = 1 model slot.
    15 identical looking brush models without zhlt_usemodel = 15 model slots.

    There is a downside to copying models (a small one): If you have 15 doors that you've cleverly cloned from a template with zhlt_usemodel then put a spray on one of them, the spray will appear on ALL of them. Same for things like bullet and burn decals. All the models will have the same lighting too.
