In my opinion Discord is not really a solution. I really dislike Discord.

No one ever said that Discord is replacing the forums. We're still working on a possible solution that doesn't involve vBulletin.

It's not an april fools joke. The forums will eventually be shut down but we're still looking at some good alternatives.

If you haven't noticed, we're not shutting the forums down yet. Please be warned that it's still a bit risky to trust vBulletin. For your safety, DO NOT re-use your Sven Co-op forum password on any other website.

It's going to take a bit longer, but progress is being made on our new community portal. Eventually this will be archived and replaced with a new community-content-creation-focused platform. Until then, stay tuned.

When I was looking for an updated one I stumbled upon Discourse, figured I'd mention it. Bit of a change as far as languages and environments go, but a lot of handy features from a fresh install.

I'm excited to see what's to come, although I too have become very comfortable with how the forums have been setup for years.

I highly suggest Spectrum as a viable option. You can see it at https://spectrum.chat — I have used it a ton across different projects, and it's by projects at scale.
